Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 17, 2026
What Aquarium Tech Data collects, what it does not, and what you can ask us to do about it. There are no accounts, no logins and no newsletter on this site, which keeps this short.
1. What we collect
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Server access logs — IP address, browser, pages requested, timestamps | Security, abuse prevention and diagnosing errors. Written automatically by the web server | Short-term, per our host’s retention |
| Aggregate analytics — pages viewed, approximate region, device class, referring site | To see which pages are useful and which are not | Per the analytics provider’s retention settings |
| Your email address and its contents, if you write to us | To reply to you | Kept while the correspondence is relevant, then deleted |
2. What we do not collect
- No accounts. There is nothing to register for, so no usernames and no passwords exist.
- No newsletter, no mailing list. Writing to us subscribes you to nothing, because there is nothing to subscribe to.
- No payment information. We sell nothing; purchases happen entirely on the retailer’s own site.
- No location data beyond the approximate region an IP address implies.
- No sale of personal information, under any definition, to anyone.
3. Cookies
Cookies are set for two purposes only: analytics, and the affiliate attribution described below. There are no advertising cookies, because the site carries no advertising.
Analytics cookies can be declined without losing anything — every page is static content and reads identically without them. Your browser’s settings control cookies here as on any site, and blocking them will not stop you using anything on this one.
4. Affiliate links and third parties
Following an affiliate link takes you to a retailer, and from that point the retailer’s privacy policy governs rather than ours. Retailers typically set a cookie recording that you arrived from this site so a purchase can be attributed. That mechanism funds the site and is described on the affiliate disclosure.
We do not receive your name, address, payment details or basket contents. What reaches us is an aggregate count of qualifying purchases with no personal information attached.
The only third parties processing data on our behalf are our hosting provider, which stores the site and its logs, and our analytics provider. Each handles what section 1 describes and nothing more.
5. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to object to its processing, or to receive a copy of it. Because this site holds no accounts, in practice the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is an email you chose to send.
To exercise any of these rights, write to editorial@aquariumtechdata.com or use the contact page. We will respond within the period the applicable law requires, at no charge.
6. Children
This site is intended for adults making purchasing decisions and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, tell us and we will delete it.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the last-updated date at the top changes with it, and material changes will be described on the page rather than made quietly.
Common questions
Does Aquarium Tech Data use cookies?
Only for analytics and affiliate attribution. There are no advertising cookies, and declining the analytics ones changes nothing about what you can read.
Will you email me if I get in touch?
Only to answer your message. There is no mailing list, so nothing else will follow.
Do you share data with equipment manufacturers?
No. We have no relationship with any manufacturer and nothing to share with one.
How do I opt out of analytics?
Block cookies for this site in your browser, or use an extension that blocks analytics scripts. The site behaves identically either way.
